Volunteer Work
As a Robotics and Programming Trainer
I had the wonderful opportunity to train students from sophomore year Java programming skills and concepts at NED University's Koshish Foundation Research Lab through a rigorous hands-on training program titled 'Java Programming 101 - Conceptualizing Logic.' The program ended with a Final Poster Exhibition Day, where my students had put up their Java and Android based projects and posters on which they presented before students and faculty members of NED University. We even inducted best students into the lab for student research assistant.
I have trained programming and robotics to students from grades 5 to 12. I taught them coding through a Scratch-based programming interface, game development, logic building, line-following and obstacle-avoiding robots' mechanism, basic sensor and motor components, Arduino and its coding through these workshops. |
As an IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Volunteer
I am currently working as webmaster for IEEE WIE Region 10 Supporting Volunteer Committee (since March 2016). Part of my duties include mangaing our official website: http://wie.ieeer10.org/, designing logos and posters for IEEE WIE events and programs (See here) and content making on IEEE WIE Region 10's social media platforms.
From the years 2013 to 2014, I served as the IEEE WIE NED University of Engineering and Technology Afinity Group's chairperson. Also, I have volunteered for planning and handling the registrations of the inaugural IEEE WIE International Leadership Summit in 2015. As an experienced IEEE WIE volunteer and an engineer, I have conducted numerous STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) outreach programs titled IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) programs to motivate girls to pursue STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology and Math) as a career and to inspire them into becoming competent leaders of tomorrow. I have conducted and presented on a session titled "Women in Coding" in the IEEE PSYWC 2014 at FAST University, Lahore in 2014 to spur an impulsive interest in computer programming and coding in Pakistan. Also, I became only the second IEEE WIE member hailing from Pakistan who was invited by IEEE WIE Global Committee to hold a solo on-line live global chat along with the likes of IEEE President-elect, IEEE WIE Region 10 Coordinator, IEEE WIE Global Chair etc., to share IEEE WIE journey to a successful leadership. On the basis of the services to IEEE WIE in inspiring women to a career in engineering and technology, I was offered a lucrative grant to travel all the way to the United States of America to attend the inaugural IEEE WIE International Leadership Conference (WIE-ILC), held in 2014 as a WIE student ambassador from Pakistan. I became one of the first Pakistanis to have been honoured with such a feat. Also, I have also won many national, regional and international IEEE WIE awards since 2013 to date. |
